In total six of their 15 studio albums have gone platinum in the US.
The band has gone on to release a number of multi-platinum albums including Rust In Peace and Countdown To Extinction. This release caught the attention of major label Capitol Records and the band signed with them and released their first major label release “Peace Sells But Who’s Buying”. The Band released their first album in 1985 titled “Killing Is My Business and Business Is Good on the independent label Combat Records. The band was formed shortly after Mustaine was dismissed from Metallica before the release of their debut album “Kill Em’ All”. The band is part of the Big Four of Thrash along with Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax.
